DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) tubing will be manufactured through a specialized process that begins with a coil of strip steel, which will be formed into a tube and welded using electric resistance welding (ERW). This method ensures the creation of high-quality steel tubes by applying heat and pressure generated by high-frequency electrical currents to produce a forged weld. The weld flash will be removed prior to the cold drawing process.
The welded tube will then be cold drawn over a mandrel, a process that will significantly improve its dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall strength. DOM tubing will be known for its uniform wall thickness, smooth surface finish, and excellent mechanical properties.
Due to these characteristics, DOM tubing will be widely used in applications such as hydraulic cylinders, automotive components, and construction equipment, where durability and precision are essential.
The DOM tubing we will supply will be made from 1020 or 1026 steel and will conform to ASTM A513 Type 5 specifications. Other grades may be available upon request.
Outside diameters will range from 0.375” OD up to 8.25” OD.
Wall thicknesses will range from 0.049” up to 0.500”.
Feel free to reach out for custom sizes or special requirements.
Hydraulic Steel Tube will be supplied as welded or seamless low-carbon steel tubing, annealed for excellent bending and flaring capabilities. It will have a wide range of applications.
We will supply tubing suitable for pressure lines in applications requiring high-quality performance in bending, flaring, forming, and brazing. Typical applications will include heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, off-road vehicles, automotive components, steering and transmission systems, process and utility lines, and other hydraulic systems.
We will offer common types such as SAE J525, J526, J356, and J524 (seamless).
J525 will often be dual certified to ASTM A214 (please note that J525 is produced to an average wall thickness, whereas ASTM A214 specifies a minimum wall).
J524 will often be dual certified to ASTM A179 (a common boiler-grade tube that is not cold drawn).
The hydraulic tubing we will supply will be made from low-carbon steel, typically grades 1006 to 1018.
Welded tubing will be available in diameters ranging from 0.250” to 2.50”, with wall thicknesses from 0.028” to 0.120”.
Seamless tubing will be available in diameters ranging from 0.125” to 1.50”, with wall thicknesses from 0.028” to 0.120”.
Please feel free to inquire about sizes outside of these standard ranges—we will be happy to assist you.
